UES Eclipse Plans
UES would like to inform parents/legal guardians of our plans for viewing the solar eclipse which will occur on Monday, August 21st, during the hours of 1:00 pm through 4:00 pm. The eclipse provides a wonderful opportunity for our students to witness an event that rarely occurs in our area. Your child’s safety is our top priority so we wanted to inform you of our plans for student viewing privileges during the solar eclipse. We will place additional staff members with each homeroom teacher in order to assist and supervise students during the viewing of the eclipse. Students who have signed permission forms will be taken outside for no more than 5 minutes in rotating groups in order to view the eclipse with one of the members of our staff. Students will be required to wear their school purchased safety glasses the entire time. All glasses that have been purchased are approved and have been verified by Amazon to have no defects. Our teachers will also inspect the glasses to ensure that each pair are in working condition. Students that do not have permission to view the eclipse will remain in the classroom where they can view it live online. We will have a late dismissal at 3:45 pm on this day. Therefore, please be patient as buses drop off students in the afternoon. Please contact us if you have any additional questions or concerns!
